Every chance liberals and “Big Government” get, they will take away your freedom. If you are skeptical, look no further than Sweden. In Vaxjo, a woman was just banned from smoking in her own backyard. For those of you who think America will never get this insane, all it takes is small steps over time, and we are certainly taking steps in the wrong direction. Just a decade ago, nobody could have predicted that trans fat and smoking would be banned in restaurants, but that is exactly what happened.
While I am not a smoker, most people support smoking bans because they find smoking an annoyance. However, once people give government power, government continues to grow. I honestly predict that government will ban unhealthy foods in restaurants or give tax credits for exercising in the next twenty years.
Sweden, a Country just oozing with government regulations, is a macrocosm of how far these lunatics will go. This recent smoking ban “came after the woman’s neighbor, a lawyer with an aversion to smoke, contacted the Environmental Court over the issue after attempting to sue the woman for smoking near him.” Supposedly, the guy had to wear a mask wherever he went because of this aversion.
So it appears the appropriate response in Sweden is to force this woman to accommodate her neighbor on her own property. Moreover, did any of your catch the fact that Sweden has an Environmental Court? Their taxes are clearly too high when they have a separate court just to please environmental lawyers.
What is so pathetic about this story is that the woman was enraged by the ban, but she did not want to pay the fine. So, she gave in to this liberal nonsense. While some may argue that smoking bans are benign, complacency with unnecessary use of government force must be stopped before it escalates out of control.
