John Edwards has based his entire campaign on creating a mythical soup line America. While poor immigrants are literally trying to break into the County, John Edwards would have everyone believe that we all live in the biggest dump on the Planet. Evidently, John Edwards already thinks we are in a recession when there have been several quarters of phenomenal economic growth.

Yes, I understand that there was a housing bubble that caused people to foreclose on their homes, but that was created by big government. First, the government created laws that prevented lenders from discriminating against people using economic factors; the laws limited the type of questions that could be asked on a loan application. Then, when the lenders provided teaser loans to people who could not afford them, the government blamed the lenders when borrowers were unable to make the payments. Had the government just stayed out of the lending business, there would not have been a problem because the lenders would not have made the loans in the first place.

To add to the absurdity, Edwards thinks Congress needs to take proactive measures to “invest” in the economy. This is a major annoyance of mine: Governments do not invest money; they steal it from the people and spend it.

In fact, in order to make the argument that a government invests money, one must accept the premise that the government can spend people’s money better than the people. Well, we all know from experience just how wisely the Government spends tax dollars. The notion of an investing Government is entirely based on the assumption that people are too stupid to know what is good for them.

So what is Edwards’ plan? He wants to spend an extra $25 billion on wasted job growth initiatives. On top of his tax increase that he will use to pay for his plan, he wants to create another bureaucracy to add to the mess that Washington already created. Oh, and he also thinks the government should spend more to fight global warming just to get the environmentalists to salivate.

Newsflash to John Edwards: If you want full employment, reduce regulations, reduce taxes, and repeal the minimum wage. I may actually start to agree with John Edwards that there are two Americas: one based on reality, and the other created in John Edwards’ Head.
