UPDATE: I'm watching Nightline right now only to find that Gibson Cut Palin's complete answers to questions.
Sarah Palin had a very solid interview on ABC News with Charlie Gibson. She was very willing to fire back at Gibson when she was challenged. Overall, I think she did what she needed to do. In fact, she certainly came off better than stuttering Barack Obama.
Tonight, the interview was mostly about National Security issues. I think it was intelligent for her to portray herself as "overready" to lead the Nation. She took a tough stance on Russia; she hoped that Georgia and Ukraine would join NATO. When Gibson informed her that this could lead to War with Russia, she said that War would be necessary if any of our NATO allies were attacked.
Of course, after her clear stance on Russia, the Huffington Post demonstrated its intellectually dishonest self by using a headline that Palin wants to Invade Russia. It begs the question of whether or not people on the left understand what "working with allies" means. If we created closer ties with Ukraine and Georgia, and they join NATO, those are the stakes. Is the Huffington Post arguing we should leave NATO? These are not serious people.
Lastly, Palin had a very brilliant answer when responding to Gibson's charge that she thinks the Iraq war is God's plan. She said:
"The reference there is a repeat of Abraham Lincoln's words when he said -- first, he suggested never presume to know what God's will is, and I would never presume to know God's will or to speak God's words.
But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that's a repeat in my comments, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side.
That's what that comment was all about, Charlie."
Well said.
I will post videos as they come in.
Lou Dobbs gives his two cents.
