I just voted straight Republican ticket, including John McCain and Sarah Palin, in one of the bluest States in the Union. Some of you may be saying, "Why bother?" The fact of the matter is that my vote matters in this election more than other races in the past. Here is why:
Imagine if John McCain wins the electoral college, but loses the popular vote. The ramifications of that happening, which is very possible, would be devastating. There really would be riots in the streets. People and the media would think McCain was an illegitimate President. That is why my vote today is important; it mitigates the damage that will result from a close election, or future tensions between Americans.
My vote today ensures that if John McCain wins, he wins with the popular vote as well. I advise all you Republicans, and people Right of Center, in blue States to please get out and vote this election. Don't stay home because you think your vote does not count. It does!
Please consider the future of this Country; we need a mandate, not a one-state swing in the electoral college.
Important Update: I now write for RWN.
